The Hauser Hop will bring back the look and music of the 1950’s on Saturday, July 13, from 6:00 to 9:00pm. The local area in and around Gettysburg recently hosted the commemoration of a historic event of 150 years ago , the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg.
Hauser Estate Winery will host an event that recalls the decade of the 1950’s, when rock and roll was first introduced. Tom Slick and the Greaseslappers will entertain. Tom Slick and the Converted Thunderbolt Greaseslappers is a 9 member show band of the “Sha Na Na” 1950’s genre. They began performing during the mid-seventies in and around eastern Pennsylvania. In the late 70’s, front man Lenny (Slick) Maday took the act on the road to Denver, Colorado where Slick became a successful oldies show band releasing an LP album. Lenny and Bonnie returned to Wilkes Barre, Pa. throughout the 80’s and 90’s to do reunion gigs with the original members and 1n 2010 Tom Slick recorded their first CD.
1950 style poodle skirts and saddle shoes are welcome, although anyone with dancing shoes or memories of the ‘50’s or anyone of any age who looks forward to a fun evening of entertainment will enjoy this event. There will be food for purchase by Fabio, plus Hauser wines and Jack’s Hard Cider, on tap, in growlers or in cans. Bring your chairs!
Tickets are $10.00 per person. Groups of 20 or more can purchase tickets for $8.00 per person. They are available at Hauser Estate Winery’s Wine Shop at 19 Lincoln Square, Gettysburg or at the 410 Cashtown Road Tasting-room. Reservations can be made by phone by calling 717-334-4888 ext. 1. The Hauser Hop will be held between the vineyards at Tasting-room, 410 Cashtown Road, eight miles west of Gettysburg, off route 30.
