A November to be thankful for…

This week, I had planned to write about all the happenings in the cellar.  Hurricane Sandy put a damper on that and I am stuck at my house instead of at the winery.  While sitting listening to the wind and rain and before I loose power, I figured that I would highlight some of our events coming soon in November!

We have teamed up with the Altland House for our Fall Winemaker’s Dinner, on November 9 beginning at 6pm.   Five courses prepared by the Altland House, paired with a Hauser Estate Wine or Jack’s Hard Cider and discussed by winemaker, Stephen Rigby.  To celebrate fall, the first course is an Apple and Walnut Brie en Croute served with Jack’s Hard Cider.  The second course, a refreshing Gorgonzola and Pear Salad paired with the oak aged 2010 Reserve Chardonnay.  Our 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, which is sold out in our tasting rooms was put aside specifically for the third course of Classic Turtle Soup.  The fourth and main course is a Beef Tenderloin served with a Butternut Squash Risotto and our 2010 Reserve Meritage.  I cannot think of anything better!  Well maybe the final course, White Chocolate Bread Pudding matched with a duo of Abe’s Apple Wine and 2010 Chambourcin.  It should be a great night of food, wine and company.  Call the tasting room for tickets!

Dancing with the Vines returns on November 14 with the West Coast Swing.  Starting at 6pm, our popular series will let you relax, learn and have some fun as the weather turns cooler.

Hauser After Hours continues in November but we do pull back to only one night a week.  This month Klinger McFry joins us on November 3, Country Crooners Maria Rose and Danny Elswick on November 10, HoBoJa on November 17 and jazz songstress Kerensa Gray on November 24.  We will have a special Hauser After Hours on Black Friday with the Al Parsons Band…November 23!

This month also finds us participating in the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail’s Wine Just off the Vine event,  on November 10, 11 and 17, 18.  A special tasting and treats await  for those having tickets to this event.  All participating wineries have tickets, or you can purchase online.

Take some time to relax after Thanksgiving at Yoga on the Hill.  After the guests have left and the clean up has ended, grab your yoga mat and join us for a relaxing session of yoga to get yourself ready for the next holiday!

We know that the holidays are busy and we can all get carried away with the many activities that come with this time of year.  It is  important to slow down and smell the roses (or the wine) and take a moment to be thankful for what we have.  See you soon!
