August is upon us. August is a strange month. While it is still considered the summer, back to school shopping starts and fall coats make an appearance. For those with children, school is starting and August is a time to wind down and start to get back into a routine. At the winery, August means the start of harvest and by the end of the month grapes and apples will start to appear on the crush pad! Up in the tasting room, the music is still playing, and the events will still be hopping!
Ladies Night starts off the month! On August 1, it is time to shop! Food from Fabio Carella will be available for purchase along with some great businesses! For all your accessory needs, Robin’s Bag and What Knots will be around as will Cookie Lee Jewelry. Wendy Heiges will be showing her artisan jewelry and for the spiritual, Angel Armor will be showing off their wares! Initail Outfitters will feature jewelry, soap, embroidered towels and handbags, and home decor items that can be personalized. Tastefully Simple and Wild Tree will show off their great food products. Livv will help you provide the perfect finishing touches to your house. Bare Skin Care will be on hand and providing a lot of great skin care advise, demonstrations, and $1/minute massages!
Our dancing series, Dancing with the Vines, will focus on the Argentine Tango on August 8. A very sultry dance for a sultry month…bring the perfect partner!
The quest for Trivia Night victory continues on Wednesday 15. Grab your team of six (or less) of the smartest people you know and join us at 6pm for a fun night of wine, cider and questions!
Our two popular Sunday events, Yoga on the Hill and Yappy hour occur on August 19 and 26.
The rest of August is filled with great music at Sips and Sounds and Hauser After Hours! August 2 and 3, find Voxology (2) and Davey & Kitty from Davey & The Waverunners (3) filling our hill with the sound of music!
All you parrot heads will love Davey and Kitty. Lots of Jimmy Buffet will be played and lots of fun will be had!
“Voxology is a sure crowd pleaser. Great vocals, stellar instrumental work. They are always at the top of my list when I get asked to recommend a group for a festival or event!” Jess Hayden – Executive Director, Susquehanna Folk Music Society
Grand Point Station brings its classic rock vibe to the winery on August 17!
The end of the month brings us the Skyla Burrell Blues Band on August 24.
“Burrell and her three cohorts find virtue in professionalism.
They deliver unpretentious, self described “Hard Drivin’ Blues”
in which strength and understatement unite in an easy, fluid
balance without sucking up to rock.”
Chelsea McBee & Random Assortment – “Chelsea McBee’s style of voice plays wonderfully into her roots-sounding mantra, all while maintaining her loyalty to a clear country music-bred background. Or, in other words, think about what it would be like if Norah Jones and Dolly Parton could have a daughter and that daughter just happened to grow up in West Virginia.” – Colin McGuire, Frederick News Post
Lisa Bodnar – “Bodnar sings with an undefeated strength of spirit in a voice that soars with hope and passion” Dave Howell – Morning Call
Pale Barn Ghosts “Great day at Hauser Winery today, thanks to you. Listened to the new CD on the way home. Love it!” Facebook user
Robert Bobby Trio – I don’t have many rules, but one of them is that whenever Robert Bobby does a new record, I’ll review it. I can’t overstate how much I like some of his work. Newsome.org
Finally, August ends with a bang. The Al Parsons Band will join us once again and rock the house!
So while the summer is wrapping up, Hauser Estate Winery’s events are not! See you soon.
