The pruning is complete as well as the tying down of the canes and soon we will be trying a new technique to loosen the clusters on some varieties to help prevent infections from fungus. We also have a lot of work to do in the newest section of the vineyard. There are trellis wires to run and anchors need to go in for the end posts. Pretty soon it will be time to thin the shoots to maximize the air and sunlight reaching the vines and the grapes to come.
The vineyard crew is doing an incredible job and taking great care in every aspect of the process. I couldn’t be happier. As long as we can avoid the hurricanes of last year, this has the potential to be a great vintage.
